Over Labor Day weekend we visited the Red River Gorge Geological area in the Daniel Boone National Forest in Kentucky. With its rock formations and unspoiled beauty it was just the right pace for this nature-loving, active family. We camped at Natural Bridge State Resort Park in the Middlefork Campground for 3 nights and while we had many adventures we also took time to Enjoy the Little Things, like skipping rocks!

Our first day we started by hiking the original trail to the Natural Bridge formation:

We then took the Laurel ridge trail to lookout point:

In order to head back down we took a fun trail into Devils gulch:

After that we drove over to the trailhead and hiked to Chimney top which had some amazing views:

Then we hiked to Princess arch:

And then down to Creation Falls and the Rock bridge formation:

The following day we had a reservation at The Gorge Underground for their Crystal kayak tour which winds thru a 100 year old flooded limestone mine:

Afterwards we hiked the trail to Angel widows

And Whistling arch:
Then under, and over, Skybridge arch:

And wrapped up by driving thru Nada tunnel which is a former railway tunnel along Rt77. At 900- feet long and just barely big enough for a single vehicle it important the other side is clear before you enter !

This was a perfect long weekend get away and with these boys growing so fast it was nice to spend time exploring and taking time to enjoy the little things!

Arizona -it’s a dry heat!

To kick off summer the boys and I took a trip to visit my aunt. We spent each day hanging out at her pool, hiking, and generally being spoiled!

We even visited the Wild West town that my Grandmother used to enjoy!

We also spent time with my cousin and her family, enjoying meals, conversations and organ music! (No picture of organ…too busy eating pizza!)

Mexico 2025

We stayed at the Iberostar Paraiso Lindo in Riveria Maya for 4nights in April. It was our first time to Mexico, and our first all inclusive experience. The weather was awesome and the resort was beautiful. We also ventured off-site on a cenote and snorkel excursion which was really awesome for this adventure-loving family. As much as we really wanted to experience this destination, that sooo many people rave about, I don’t think we will return…simply because there is too much of the rest of the world to see!
